Field Journal of the Deep is a pressure-transformed artist book that traveled 1,000 meters beneath the ocean’s surface. Its pages are made from Styrofoam, a material that compresses and shrinks under the immense pressure of the deep sea. Painted with images of the cosmos, the pages were intentionally reduced in scale by the ocean itself, transforming celestial forms into something more akin to microscopic plankton. Encased in a 3D-printed outer shell designed to withstand the depths, the work becomes both field journal and artifact — a record of scale, pressure, and the hidden relationship between the vastness of space and the smallest life forms in the sea.
