Superorganism, 2013

Superorganism is an intricate illustration featuring the world’s top five superorganisms: ants, bees, humans, termites, and naked mole rats. A superorganism is a group of synergistically interacting organisms of the same species. Through group delegation and hyper-connectivity, the individual requires the collective for survival and the behaviors of the group acts like a single living system. For example, ants operate like cells in a body, where the ant colony itself exists as one living system. Each of the five superorganisms is illustrated in a different color as a series of continuous-line drawings to imply their interdependence.
