Earth Tones is a meditation on origin, perception, and planetary materiality. Created during my time as Artist-in-Residence with Planet, the work draws from hundreds of satellite images reviewed from their global archive. These fragments of Earth – captured from Low Earth orbit – are digitally collaged and restructured into a reimagined color wheel.
Rather than abstract pigment, each hue is sourced directly from the planet itself: deserts, oceans, forests, ice fields, and mineral landscapes. Earth Tones celebrates the idea that all color is born of Earth – revealing our planet as both subject and material, and inviting viewers to see familiar chromatic systems through a planetary lens.
